2022 Fall Show Winners

JUDGE’S COMMENTS, Barbara Nechis

FIRST PLACE: EY2
by Susan Dunning This painting has sensitivity and restraint with the color and value, and with all of those neutrals. It is a wonderful and moving work. I also like her other portrait that is in the show (but only one per artist can be selected).
SECOND PLACE: Uncertain
by Stefani Powell I love the abstraction of the figure on the left contrasting with the development of the figure on the right. The color is magical.
THIRD PLACE: Austin Bench in Winter
by Joy Gilcrease This is a wonderful example of using impressionism. It is a lyrical painting. The perspective of the trees and the way that they link together framing the empty bench are effective aspects. The colors are great and help to convey the mood.
